Landon Wins the Meet at OU

Wildcats add 2 more qualifiers

NORMAN, Okla. -- The ACU men's track and field team added two new provisional qualifiers for next month's NCAA Division II indoor championship meet on Saturday at the Sooner Indoor Open.

Pole vaulters Aaron Cantrell and Bradley Tatum each posted provisional qualifying marks as both cleared 15-7.75 with Cantrell finishing second and Tatum third. ACU's Landon Ehlers won the pole vault with a mark of 16-1.75, which is a better provisional qualifying mark for him.
Aside from the Ehlers win in the pole vault, Wildcat athletes won two other events Saturday with Harold Jackson winning the 400 meters in 49.68 and Julius Nyango winning the 800 meters in 1:54.40. No other Wildcat, however, posted a qualifying mark at the meet.

The same held true for the women, although ACU did have an event winner in Keva Wilkins in the 600-yard race (1:23.74), an event that is not part of the indoor championship meet. Two Wildcats did better previous provisional marks as Elizabeth Buyse finished second in the pole vault (11-10.00) and Jessica Sloss finished second in the weight throw (54-6.00).

A few ACU athletes were in action Friday at the Prairie Wolf Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., but the only noteworthy performance was by the women's distance medley relay team, which bettered its previous provisional qualifying time by 10 seconds as it won the race in 11:58.12.

Landon at Texas Tech Meet

What a great vaulting day for Landon!

He tied for 4th out of 19 vaulters....He went out at 16'6". He acheived a new PR (personal record) for indoor when he cleared 16'. His outdoor PR is 16'3". This PR was acheived just at the right time at the NCAA DivII Outdoor National Championships where he ended up as the highest ranked NCAA Div II freshman in the United States...Wow...He has started strong and is very determined....By the way, the winner was a vaulter from Texas Tech Div I and the others are unattached which usually means that they have graduated from college and are trying to qualify for the Olympics....Way to go Landon....We are so proud of you...Thanks to all the fans that came out to support him...I know that means a lot to Landon...more to come...

Landon's All American Vault

Landon placed 6th in the nation and scored points for the track team......that earned him an All American designation.......he is now the highest ranked freshman in the United States for NCAA Div II pole vaulting....his performance was incredible......I have never seen him so focused and mature in his vaulting........He competed until the very end! and when his vaulting was done he stopped long enough to thank his Creator! and then he cheered on the rest of his team.......ACU went on to win the NCAA Division II National Championship. Landon will be fitted for a National Championship ring sometime tomorrow! WOW! We love you son!

Gotta finish and go to bed.........

Ok first of all.................THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR PRAYERS THIS WEEK.....Thanks so much to all of the special friends that kept April company while Dad and I were away...I know that she is a big girl....but I also know how much she loves her bubba and really missed going with us....Thanks to two very special people in our lives........You both are such a blessing to us..and you know who you are...we love you........

Now for the Summerville Cousins......wow what a great time we had with you guys...we started out with Cooper's baseball game.....he was awesome....put some salmon and steak on the grill and had a great late night visit in the back yard..... the next day we attended the Senior PGA tour out at Ocean Island Golf Resort. We were able to watch some really big names on the 17th and 18th holes....then we went for a tour of Charleston. This is when I got some great photo shots...I did not get any shots at the PGA tour due to the rules and regulations...bummer......While we were all spending the day together...Miss Taylor was having a special day with a special person.......Enough said HUH Taylor...........I am glad you had fun...
Thanks so much for such a great time...

The next day Gordon and I took off early to get to Charlotte for the big NCAA Event.....the Seales traveled from Summerville to cheer on Landon. It was so cool to have them there...Glenn gave Gordon a break and ran the video camera and Gayla kept up with the results.......and ALEX laughed at me each time I cried my tears of joy....but she always followed up with a much needed hug during the course of the competition .........Landon placed 6th in the nation and scored points for the track team......that earned him an All American designation.......he is now the highest ranked freshman in the United States for NCAA Div II pole vaulting....his performance was incredible......I have never seen him so focused and mature in his vaulting........He competed until the very end! and when his vaulting was done he stopped long enough to thank his Creator! and then he cheered on the rest of his team.......ACU went on to win the NCAA Division II National Championship. Landon will be fitted for a National Championship ring sometime tomorrow! WOW! We love you son!

Be Sure to go to the Ehlers' Links and click on the NCAA link to see all pic's!

Cooper is the Big Hitter.....Way to go Cooper...We loved being at your game!
